New Tobacco Free Hiring Policy - As a health care system whose mission is to improve the health and well-being of society, particularly those in Alabama, we are asking our employees to model the same behaviors we promote to those we serve. Beginning July 1, 2013, UAB Medicine will no longer hire individuals who use nicotine products. All applicants who are offered and accept a position with UAB Medicine will be tested for nicotine during a regular pre-employment drug screen. Those employees who have cotinine levels above the threshold will have their employment offer rescinded. Individuals who test positive are welcomed to reapply after 60 days.
