Dawn Bulgarella is the Chief Executive Officer of the UAB Health System, where she is responsible for a 16-hospital system with annual revenues approaching $8 billion. She has responsibility for one of the largest and most highly respected academic healthcare delivery organizations in the country. Along with the University of Alabama at Birmingham, the UAB Health System is the largest employer in the State of Alabama, exceeding 23,000 employees and recently designated by Forbes as the #1 best large employer.

Bulgarella is an innovative thinker and mentor who serves on numerous health care boards, the board of directors of Protective Life, and a recent appointment by Governor Ivey to the Alabama Workforce Board’s Executive Committee. She earned a Bachelor of Science in Commerce and Business Administration from the University of Alabama and a Master’s degree in Health Administration from the University of Alabama at Birmingham.She is a Certified Public Accountant, formerly with Ernst & Young, and is active in multiple professional and community associations.

Dawn is a recognized senior leader in the State of Alabama. She has been recognized as a “CEO to Know” by Becker’s Hospital Review, as a member of Birmingham’s “Power 60”, as one of the
“Women Who Shape the State”, one of the Top Birmingham Women, selected as the Birmingham Large Enterprise CFO of the Year in 2020, and received the Woman of Impact designation in 2019.

Dawn and her husband, Joe, have three adult children and two grandchildren. She enjoys traveling and spending time with family and friends.
