UAB Medicine desires to provide a safe and healthy work environment and to promote the health and well being of its employees, visitors and patients.
COVID-19 Vaccination Policy
To comply with federal law, UAB Medicine has adopted a policy requiring the following individuals to be vaccinated for COVID-19 or obtain an approved medical, disability, or religious exemption:
- all Workgroup C employees who provide patient care or other services in a UAB Medicine clinical facility;
- employees who work on behalf of UAB Medicine in patient homes or other clinical facilities; or
- individuals who have direct contact with the employees listed above.
Under this policy, all applicants who accept a UAB Medicine offer of employment for a position that is subject to this policy must be vaccinated or obtain an exemption. Please visit the UAB United webpage for more specific information on how and when you must obtain your COVID-19 vaccination if you are not already vaccinated as well as the process for applying for an exemption.

Certain UAB Medicine employees are subject to pre-employment and annual Tuberculosis (TB) screenings.
Additional Tests & Screenings
For certain positions, employees are subject to additional screenings including Respirator FIT Testing (pre-employment, annually), Basic Life Support and Advanced Life Support (pre-employment, every two years), and other tests or screenings as required.
