Our surgical department is one of the largest in the country, with more than 61 state-of-the-art operating suites in multiple locations. Job Profile
Surgical technologists are important members of the care team. At UAB Medicine, surgical techs work alongside nurses, certified registered nurse anesthetists (CRNAs), anesthesiologists, and world-renowned surgeons to maintain and prepare instrumentation and equipment, helping cases run efficiently and allowing us to provide the highest quality of care. Although technical expertise is important, surgical techs also must be compassionate, meet the needs of patients, and treat them like family.
We support our new techs through a comprehensive orientation process, as well as robust training and development opportunities. We encourage you to take advantage of our continuing education; employees receive 100% tuition assistance at UAB through our Educational Assistance Program, and we also assist with certification. UAB offers a second-level position for surgical technologists who are certified and have at least three years of experience.
