UAB Sports & Exercise Medicine and UAB Orthopedic Surgery provide the full range of care for knee conditions, from minor aches and pains to knee replacement. Our multi-specialty team approach brings together experts in several areas of medicine, and they work together to develop complete care plans for each individual patient, with a focus on recovery.

Our services are provided at multiple convenient locations. Our experienced physicians and surgeons use the latest technology and perform the most advanced procedures to help improve or restore knee function, including:

• ACL repair
• Knee replacement, including partial, total, robotic, and patellofemoral
• Lateral extra-articular iliotibial band tenodesis
• Ligament reconstruction
• Tendon repair, including quadriceps and patellar tendon
• Meniscal or cartilage preservation
• Orthobiologic and corticosteroid injections, which reduce pain and promote healing

We rely on research-based methods that help us deliver the highest quality of care, and we participate in clinical trials to evaluate promising new treatments. Our team members also serve as team physicians for several local college and professional sports teams.
