The UAB Comprehensive Addiction in Pregnancy Program (CAPP) provides help for new and expecting mothers with a current or past substance use disorder. The CAPP clinic combines prenatal and postpartum care with social services, case management, and peer recovery support, along with evaluation and treatment for addiction, including medications for opioid use disorder.
Care coordinators can connect you with the recovery services that best suit your needs and make referrals for specialty pediatric care. CAPP creates a safe and respectful environment where women can experience comprehensive, supportive, and family-centered care that promotes their recovery.
The program is a partnership that includes the UAB Division of Maternal-Fetal Medicine, UAB Beacon Recovery, UAB Department of Psychiatry, Jefferson County Department of Human Resources, Jefferson County Family Court, Alethia House, and IMPACT Family Counseling.
The UAB Division of Maternal-Fetal Medicine is one of the largest and most respected programs of its kind in the nation, providing high-risk obstetric care and the most advanced diagnostic services and treatments to women with special pregnancy concerns. It is part of UAB Obstetrics and Gynecology, which is consistently recognized for excellence by U.S. News & World Report.
