Mary Feeling, RN & Kendra Prince

Congratulations to this month’s winners: Mary Feeling, RN & Kendra Prince, RN! What makes Mary and Kendra DAISY winners?

“Kendra Prince and Mary Feeling had been taking care of a patient who had been on the GISO unit for 45 days. The patient had an underlying condition that led to communication challenges.

Mary reached out to people in her community, and was fortunate to have an electronic tablet donated to the patient. The tablet helped to improve communication and decrease anxiety for the patient and the staff.

Kendra has also gone above and beyond for the patient. She bought him clothes and brought hair clippers to give him a haircut. She has also helped other team members learn to communicate effectively with the patient.

These two nurses are great and I am proud to call them my co-workers. They did these things without being asked.

They both have embodied one of UAB Medicine’s core values: Always care.”
