One of the most active organ transplant centers in the nation, UAB performs more than 400 procedures annually, including heart, lung, kidney, pancreas, liver, uterus, and multi-organ transplants. We’ve pioneered many advances during our 50-plus-year history, including new medications, groundbreaking research, innovative surgical techniques, overcoming blood type incompatibility, HIV+-to-HIV+ transplants, and the convenience of telehealth and satellite clinics. Our expertise is consolidated under the UAB Comprehensive Transplant Institute (CTI), where our transplant physicians and surgeons have over 450 years of combined experience, helping instill confidence among patients and referring physicians alike.
