Andrew Walker will join UAB Health System as the inaugural executive vice president of finance, effective October 26, 2026. As UAB Health System continues to grow in size and complexity, this newly created position will provide dedicated executive leadership over financial strategy, system integration and long-term capital planning.
Andrew joins us from WellSpan Health, a $4.7 billion integrated health system based in York, Pennsylvania, where he currently serves as Senior Vice President of Finance and Treasury. In that role, he leads accounting, financial reporting, treasury, debt compliance, and investment strategy for the system, including oversight of a $1.4 billion debt portfolio and a $3.6 billion investment portfolio. He previously served as WellSpan’s Vice President of Accounting and Financial Reporting.
“Andrew has spent his career leading finance and treasury functions for health systems of significant size and complexity. As we establish this role for the first time, we wanted a leader who could bring experience in system integration and Andrew’s background makes him the right person for that work,” said Susan Jennings, UABHS Chief Financial Officer.
Before WellSpan, Andrew spent four years at Bon Secours Mercy Health, where he led financial reporting for a $10 billion health system and directed the organization’s conversion to a new ERP platform. He began his career at PricewaterhouseCoopers, where he worked as an Assurance Manager on integrated audits for multinational clients.
Andrew is a Certified Public Accountant licensed in Kentucky and Ohio. He holds a bachelor’s degree in accounting and a Master of Accounting, both from the University of Kentucky.
“I’m honored to join UAB Health System and become part of an organization with such a strong mission and commitment to excellence. Healthcare finance has always been meaningful to me because it supports the work of caring for patients and communities. I’m excited to begin this journey, develop new relationships, and call Birmingham home.”
