UAB Police join first responders worldwide at the 2025 World Police & Fire Games

Seventeen UAB police officers and UAB’s K-9 Officer Dolly competed in the games.

The UAB Police and Public Safety Department competed in the 2025 World Police & Fire Games in Birmingham this summer. The games began on June 27 and went through July 6.

The WPFG consists of Olympic-style competitions with more than 8,500 athletes representing first responders from 70 countries. This includes law enforcement, firefighters and other public safety personnel. The WPFG are held biennially and typically include more than 60 sports.

Seventeen UAB police officers and UAB’s K-9 Officer Dolly competed in the games at the following events:

  • June 28-29: Chess
  • June 28-30: Flag Football
  • June 29: K-9 Explosives Detection
  • June 30-July 5: Track and Field
  • July 1: Angling
  • July 1-3: Bowling
  • July 2-4: Dodgeball
  • July 3-6: Basketball (3×3)

“We are excited about the opportunity to participate in this event that honors and celebrates the community heroes in Birmingham and beyond,” said Daryl Green, Ph.D., chief of UAB Police. “I am very proud of the officers who are representing our institution on an international level at this event and look forward to supporting them during the games.”

UAB Medicine was the official medical provider of the 2025 World Police & Fire Games.
