About UAB Medicine Digestive Health
The UAB Digestive Health Center helps patients manage digestive conditions and improve their lifestyles. It combines our expertise in gastrointestinal (GI) care, GI surgery, colorectal surgery, and transplant surgery, along with hepatology, which focuses on treating conditions of the liver, gallbladder, pancreas, and the vessels that connect them. Our state-of-the-art endoscopy center provides the full range of testing services and interventional procedures in a single location, and we work closely with nutritionists and other medical professionals to create a comprehensive care plan and improve the patient experience. Our team offers the latest in minimally invasive surgery, which allows for faster healing and fewer potential complications compared to traditional open surgery. Many patients can meet with both the medical and surgical teams in a single visit. Our Gastroenterology and GI Surgery programs are consistently ranked as “High-Performing” by U.S. News & World Report.
