Connect Health Management Apps to Your Health Record
UAB Medicine is dedicated to helping improve your overall health care experience by providing convenient, streamlined resources to help you better manage your health. We now offer the ability for you to securely connect health management apps to the UAB Medicine electronic health record.

Once we receive your request, UAB Medicine will work with the appropriate vendors to determine if they meet the technical requirements necessary to ensure a secure connection to your health record. We will be in touch (typically within two business days) with instruction on next steps.
The myUABMedicine patient portal will continue to offer secure access to your health record, which allows you to:
- Send secure messages to your health care providers
- Request medication refills
- View results of select lab work and other tests
- View and/or download portions of your medical record
- View upcoming appointments and educational materials
- View lists of current medications, allergies, immunizations, and more

If you have developed, or plan to develop, an app that you would like to connect to the UAB Medicine Cerner electronic health record, the first step is to visit https://code.cerner.com/. Click on the “Start Coding” link to access documentation you need to develop for Cerner’s Ignited APIs and ultimately submit your app for review.
