What is a patient and family advisor?

Patient and family advisors are volunteers who recently have been cared for at UAB Medicine or are loved ones of someone who has. These community-minded individuals make up the UAB Medicine Patient and Family Advisory Council, which meets monthly to provide valuable direction in the planning, design, and delivery of health care. We are dedicated to listening to the voices of our patients and families. Their opinions help us provide the highest quality of care to every patient, every time. We encourage you to consider serving on our Patient and Family Advisory Council and sharing your thoughts and perspective on how we can change and improve patient care.

If you wish to be considered for a volunteer position as a patient and family advisor, please complete the online Patient and Family Advisory Council application.

You also may print, complete, and return the application to the name and address listed at the end of the end of the form, which can be downloaded here.

Thank you for your interest in helping us improve patient care at UAB Medicine!
