UAB Callahan Eye Hospital Recognized with Two Press Ganey Awards
UAB Callahan Eye Hospital received two prestigious national awards from Press Ganey, a health care consulting group that tracks quality, clinical performance, and patient satisfaction for UAB Medicine and 22,000 other providers across the country.
Callahan earned the 2015 Press Ganey Guardian of Excellence Award, which recognizes top-performing health care organizations that have consistently achieved the 95th percentile or above of performance in employee engagement. Presented annually, the Guardian of Excellence Award is a nationally recognized symbol of achievement in health care and honors clients who consistently sustained performance among the top 5% of all Press Ganey clients for each quarter during the one-year reporting period ended April 2015.
"We are very proud to be recognized for our efforts to build a culture that aligns talented employees with our patient experience goals," says Callahan President and CEO Brian Spraberry. "Employee engagement centers on recruiting and retaining exceptional employees and providing them with the resources to be effective in the provision of care to our patients."
Callahan also received the 2015 Press Ganey Pinnacle of Excellence Award for maintaining extraordinary achievement and consistently high levels of excellence for patient experience in inpatient care across the three-year period ended April 2015. Callahan was recognized in 2010, 2011, and 2013 for patient satisfaction.
"Our staff understands that everything we do in health care is more than just the clinical nature of their work, it's also about the relationships with patients," Spraberry says. "I am extraordinarily proud of our team and our medical staff for this achievement."
Chris Brainard, Director of Patient Experience and Engagement for UAB Health System, says Callahan's national recognition embodies the spirit of UAB Medicine's AMC21 strategic plan, which emphasizes strong performance in employee engagement, patient experience, and other key indicators of operational excellence.
"These are great accomplishments by the team at Callahan because the awards are based on the voices of both our patients and employees," Brainard says. "Sustaining excellence for three consecutive years can only come from a true commitment to engaging all members of the care team, living our Core Values every day, and always providing exceptional care and service to our patients. We are all very proud of their success."
The winners will formally be recognized on Nov. 11 during an awards luncheon at the Press Ganey National Client Conference, scheduled for Nov. 10-12 at the Orlando World Center Marriott Resort.
