Meet the Addiction Recovery Team: Katelyn Mitchell
Name: Katelyn Mitchell
Education: Student at UAB
What led you to choose this career?
I have a passion for helping others which grew out of having a brother with special needs. I’ve always had an interest in the healthcare field. UAB is a great fit for me.
What do you see as special or unique about UAB’s program?
We treat the whole person, not just the addiction.
What do you wish more people understood about addiction recovery?
I wish they understood that addiction is a disease.
What has been most rewarding about your experience at UAB?
The incredible team that I get to work with every day.
Tell us a few personal details about yourself.
Most weekends you can find me outdoors kayaking, hiking, or working out. I spend a significant amount of my time outside of my work at UAB doing landscape design, which grew out of my previous job experience.
