B-Metro Magazine Presents Birmingham’s ‘Cutest Baby’
B-Metro magazine announced the 2018 winner of its annual “Cutest Baby” contest, sponsored by the UAB Women & Infants Center. Parents from across Birmingham submitted photos of their babies, and after months of voting by its Facebook followers, the magazine awarded this year’s grand prize to David “Anderson” (last name withheld), who was born at the UAB Women & Infants Center. B-Metro presented Anderson’s mom, Caroline, with a $250 gift card to Storkland Baby & Kid Furniture. We spoke with her to learn a bit more about Anderson and his arrival.
Q: What was your reaction to Anderson being chosen as Birmingham’s “Cutest Baby”?
A: We were so thrilled and couldn't believe it! So many of our friends and family heard he was in the contest right after he was born, and we really owe it to them! They voted and spread the word, and it was wonderful to reconnect with people on social media as we celebrated the birth of Anderson. He has definitely stolen our hearts, and now he has stolen Birmingham's heart, too!
Q: What are some of Anderson’s favorite things right now?
A: Anderson is now five months BIG and weighs 19 pounds, he has big strong hands with deep dimples, and three (!) rolls on each ankle (not to mention his thighs). Despite being hit hard by the teething bug, our drooly boy gives the sweetest grins, and his eyes just light up when he smiles. He loves baths and being outside. He still isn’t the best sleeper, but he loves cooing and singing, and he just started belly laughing. He just started using a jumper, and he shrieks with excitement with his newfound mobility. He is hoping to crawl soon so he can follow his big sister, who is two and a half years old. She loves finding him every morning and saying, “Wake up, bubby!” He has a head full of peach fuzz, with a few long hairs right on the top. He has brought so much love and joy to our family!
Q: Can you tell us about a positive experience or memory you have from delivering Anderson at the UAB Women & Infants Center?
A: We had a wonderful experience with our maternity and newborn care at UAB! We felt so confident in our medical team and the resources of UAB. The care was truly family-centered, and they really focused on keeping mom and baby healthy and allowing us to bond and enjoy those first few days.
