Medical Emergency Team
At UAB, you will encounter teamwork everywhere you look. But it’s nice to know there’s teamwork that exists mostly behind the scenes.
A Medical Emergency Team (MET), consisting of two specially trained nurses and a doctor, is prepared to provide a rapid response at a moment’s notice, bringing expertise and assistance to nurses when their patients experience a sudden change in condition or a life-threatening situation. Talk with our nurses and they’ll tell you that the MET is a source of real confidence when it comes to dealing with the higher-than-average acuity of UAB patients. UAB gives you the autonomy you need to be a strong nurse, but provides support when you need it most.
The Met provides support to patient and non-patient care areas 24/7 with physician and nursing support. The simulation center and educational opportunities are available 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday and for special requests.
