Intensive Care Unit  
The Highlands Intensive Care Unit provides care for patients with a variety of serious medical conditions in a technologically advanced environment.

Orthopeadic Surgery Unit  
The Orthopedic Surgery unit at Highlands provides post-operative care to patients with a wide variety of bone, joint and muscle problems.

Pain Treatment Clinic  
The UAB Pain Treatment Clinic is a comprehensive pain clinic with an emphasis on interventional procedures. All physicians are anesthesiologists that are board certified in pain medicine.

Highlands Staffing Pool  
The Highlands Staffing Pool provides supplementary staffing to inpatient nursing units. Each professional nurse is required to have a valid Alabama Registered Nurse license and a current BLS certification. In addition to work in our ICU a current ACLS certification is required.

Acute Care for the Elderly Unit (ACE)  
The Acute Care for the Elderly (ACE) unit is an adult general medicine unit caring for patients referred to the hospitalists by their primary care physicians. The unit specializes in the specific needs of geriatric patients.
