The Highlands Intensive Care Unit provides care for patients with a variety of serious medical conditions in a technologically advanced environment.

Patient Population

• Adult
• Respiratory Failure
• Acute Renal Failure
• Gastrointestinal Hemorrhage
• Severe Diabetic Ketoacidosis
• Congestive Heart Failure

Number of Beds

• 14

Nurse/Patient Ratio

• 1:2 standard
• 1:1 extreme situations 

Skill Mix

• Registered Nurse 100%

Rotation/Shifts

• 12 hour shifts 7a - 7p and 7p-7a
• Weekend only option available
   

Nursing Unit Orientation

• 12 weeks for new graduates
• Duration varies for experienced RNs
