Trauma Burn Nursing Unit (TBNU)

The Trauma Burn Nursing Unit provides care for patients requiring high-acuity support for trauma and burn injuries.

Patient Population

  • Adult
  • Motor Vehicle Accidents
  • Recreational Accidents
  • Gunshot Wounds
  • Stab Wounds
  • Occupational Accidents
  • Thermal and Chemical Burns


Number of Beds

  • 28 including 8 step-down beds


Nurse/Patient Ratio

  • 1:4-5


Rotation/Shifts

  • 12 hour shifts 7a-7p and 7p-7a
  • Work every 4th weekend


Skill Mix

  • Registered Nurse - 68%
  • Patient Care Technician - 32%
  • Step-down beds skill mix is 100% RN's


Nursing Unit Orientation

  • 8-10 weeks
