The UAB Geriatric Medicine Clinic provides a wide range of outpatient services for seniors. On site medical laboratory and digital X-Ray equipment ensure that our geriatricians can make this a “one stop shop” for most of our patients. The building is on one level with easy access from the convenient parking lot on the west side of the building.

Geriatricians are doctors who specialize in the care of older adults. Geriatricians partner with patients, their families, and other healthcare experts to optimize health, function, and quality of life. Geriatrics at UAB takes a holistic approach to providing the highest quality care for older patients. Our geriatricians provide primary care and consultation services for older adults.

Among persons age 65 years and older, those with one or more of the following are most likely to benefit from the care of a Geriatrician:

• Four or more medical problems
• Seven or more medications
• Change in ability to drive, handle finances, live alone, or manage medications
• Decline in memory
• New problems such as confusion, falls, incontinence, weight loss, or depression
• Age 85 years and older
