General Clinic Information
The UAB Pain Treatment Clinic is located on the third floor of UAB Highlands. Our hours are Monday through Friday, 7:30 a.m. until 4:00 p.m.
To schedule an appointment, please call (205) 930-8966. Please leave a message if phone lines are busy and a member of the staff will return your call as soon as possible. A physician referral is required before your first visit. If you need to reschedule or cancel your appointment, please call at least 24 hours in advance when possible. Please note that there is a $50.00 no show fee. If a patient incurs two no show fees, they will be dismissed from the clinic.
After Hours and Emergencies
If this is a serious emergency, please call 911 for immediate assistance or visit the UAB Highlands emergency room.
What To Bring
Please bring photo identification, insurance cards and co-pays to your first visit. If possible, please bring any lab results, x-rays and prescriptions. If you are not being referred by a UAB physician, please bring any other medical information your referring physician has not already sent to our clinic.
If you are having any pain blocks done, please do not eat or drink anything six hours prior to your procedure. Some procedures may require that you be sedated and will need a driver to escort you home.
Your co-pay is expected at time of service. If you are having a procedure done, your hospital or outpatient co-pay applies. Please check with you insurance provider if you have any questions about your hospital or outpatient co-pay as it is likely to differ from your usual co-pay.
Since most of the testing is done on-site, results are often immediate and can be evaluated promptly.
Patients are provided with handouts and brochures providing additional information about their condition or a procedure that was performed upon leaving.
Patients with Limitations
Patients visiting UAB Highlands can take advantage of the convenient free parking in front of the building or next door in the 12th Street parking deck. Both parking spots are handicapped accessible and patients may be dropped off at the first floor entrances. Wheelchair assistance is available upon request.
