General Clinic Information
We are located on the 5th floor of The Kirklin Clinic of UAB Hospital. Our office hours are Monday-Friday, 8:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m. Please call 205.801.7783 with any questions or concerns.
To schedule an appointment, please call 205.801.7783. In the event that you need to reschedule or cancel your appointment, please call either of the numbers listed above. If possible, we appreciate your cancellation at least 24 hours in advance.
After Hours and Emergencies
If you need to reach your Neurosurgeon after hours, please call UAB Paging at (205) 934-3411 and ask for the Neurosurgery Resident on call. If this is a true medical emergency, please dial 911 for immediate assistance.
If you have a non-emergency question or concern that you wish to discuss with your Neurosurgeon, please call the Neurosurgeon’s office directly. If someone is not available at the time of your call, please leave your name, telephone number and a brief message and your call will be returned as soon as possible.
What to Bring with You
When you come to your appointment, please bring your insurance card, your physician referral (if applicable), any prescription or over the counter medications that you are currently taking (or a list of these medications, including dosage amount), the name, address and telephone number of your referring physician, and any MRI or CT films that were performed at a facility outside of UAB or The Kirklin Clinic of UAB Hospital. It is extremely important that you have your films present at the time of your visit. Without these films your physician will unable to perform an evaluation and you will have to reschedule your appointment for a later date.
If you are scheduled for an MRI or CT scan on the day of your appointment, please arrive 20 minutes prior to your scheduled test time. If you are scheduled for an MRI in the Boshell Diabetes Building on the day of your clinic visit, you may park in The Kirklin Clinic parking deck and access the Boshell Building by following the signs in our 2nd floor interior walkway. If you have any additional questions regarding this, please do not hesitate to contact the clinic directly.
Some insurance providers may require a referral or pre-certification before seeing a specialist of this nature. Please be sure to bring a copy of this referral or pre-certification with you for insurance/billing purposes. If you are unsure of what your insurance company requires, please contact them in advance of your appointment and they will be happy to answer any of your questions. Your co-pay is expected at the time of your visit; however, our financial counselors are available to discuss any problems or special circumstances. Our financial counselors may be reached Monday-Friday, 8:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m. at (205) 801-9910.
Your physician will discuss with you how and when your lab results will be reported to you. If you have any questions regarding your results, please contact your physician’s office directly.
To obtain a refill for any medications prescribed by this clinic, please contact your physician’s office directly.
Patients with Limitations
Patients visiting The Kirklin Clinic of UAB Hospital may take advantage of convenient parking in the deck adjacent to the Clinic. Located at 2100 6th Avenue South, the parking deck is connected to the second floor of The Kirklin Clinic of UAB Hospital by a weatherproof sky bridge. High top van access is restricted to the first floor of the clinic parking deck. Therefore, patients arriving in high top vans and requiring wheelchair assistance should be dropped off at the front door of the clinic before the driver parks the vehicle. Valet parking is available on Level 2 of the deck; wheelchairs and additional assistance are located here as well.
