Physicians and health professionals can call the Medical Information Service via Telephone (MIST) 24-hours a day, 7-days a week for immediate medical consultations, to schedule a referral, obtain information and more. A trained health-services representative will route your call to the appropriate UAB physician or other health-care specialist.

Physicans can:
- Obtain an immediate medical consultation
- Schedule a referral
- Request a transfer
- Arrange for Critical Care Transport
- Check on patients referred to UAB
- Consult with UAB physicians about follow-up care for patients who have returned home
- Discuss diagnoses, new technology, clinical trials, and research findings
