Adolescent and Pediatric Gynecology

UAB Pediatric and Adolescent Gynecology is dedicated to providing compassionate care for girls of all ages. In addition to providing routine gynecologic care, specialists with UAB can help young women in many other areas.

This includes counseling and education on contraceptive options including oral, transdermal, subcutaneous, injectable contraception and intrauterine devices. UAB can conduct confidential testing of and education about sexual transmitted diseases. Gynecology specialists can perform screening a screening pap smear and HPV testing for cervical cancers. In the event of an abnormal pap smear, colposcopy and biopsy are available.

Evaluation and medical management is also available in the case of an irregular menstrual cycle or benign disorders of the genital tract and ovaries.
