UAB Hospital Among “America's Best” in 2010/11 U.S.News & World Report Rankings

Eleven University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) Hospital medical specialties - three more than in 2009 - are among the nation's top 50 in the 16 categories evaluated at 4,852 U.S. hospitals this year by U.S.News & World Report. Six specialties are in the top 25.

UAB Hospital Wins Consumer’s Choice Award

UAB Hospital again won the National Research Corporation (NRC) Consumer Choice Award in 2010 based on consumer perceptions of quality and image. UAB has won this award every year since 2000 and is the only hospital in the Birmingham Metropolitan Statistical Area listed among the NRC's 250 top hospitals.

Even More of the Best Doctors in Alabama Call UAB Home

More than two-thirds of the best doctors in Alabama practice at UAB, according to the 2009-10 edition of The Best Doctors in America. The new edition recognizes 297 UAB physicians among the nation’s best doctors, a total of 67 percent of the 446 physicians selected from the state of Alabama.

Best Places to Work Award from Modern Health Care

UAB Health System was chosen as one of the Best Places to Work in Healthcare by Modern Healthcare.com in 2009.

American Heart Association’s Start! Fit Friendly Company Award

UAB was recognized by the American Heart Association as a Gold Level Start! Fit Friendly Company in 2007 for demonstrating progressive leadership in making the health and wellness of employees a priority. UAB was also recognized in 2008.

UAB Ranked 5th in Top 15 U.S. Academic Institutions by “The Scientist”

The Scientist magazine ranked UAB as 5th in the “Top 15 U.S. Academic Institutions,” in 2008 up from 47th in 2007. The dramatic jump coincides with UAB’s cross-collaborative culture in which researchers collaborate with other departments to create a truly multi-disciplinary setting.

UAB Hospital Earns Most Customer Friendly Award

University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) Hospital has been selected as one of America’s most customer-friendly hospitals by the American Alliance of Healthcare Providers.

Kirklin Clinic Receives Alabama Quality Award

The Kirklin Clinic, a member of the UAB Health System, received a Level 2 - Progress Towards Excellence Award during the Alabama Quality Award Annual Conference and Award Ceremony on November 29, 2007.

Press Ganey Compass Award - Most Improved Employee Satisfaction

Press Ganey recognized a significant jump in employee satisfaction at the Callahan Eye Foundation Hospital in 2007 after improvements were instituted at the hospital.
